From 6-7 months you may find bub has more of an appetite for solid food but you should still ensure bub is taking enough milk in accordance with your pediatricians advise. More complex tastes can be introduced and you can mix and match different fruits and veggies based on your babies tastes. But be sure to not stick with just the favourites. Now is the time to get bub to expand her taste and range in food that’s safe for this age bracket.
6 TO 9 MONTH
MEAL PLAN
By now bub has been introduced to solids and is slowly becoming accustomed to different basic tastes and textures. You’ll notice some big changes from bub needing support whilst feeding her during the earlier stages through to hold the pouch herself as she soldiers towards the 9 month mark. During this stage you may try introducing a food pouch spout onto the pouch and encourage bub to hold the pouch herself.
FAQS
What changes with the meal plan now?
How much solids should I introduce?
By this stage you may well be led by bubs appetite and you may find bub happy with half a pouch mini at 6 months and slowly graduating to a full pouch mini come 9 months of age. Breastmilk and/or formula will still remain a key nutritional supplement at this stage taking up at least ½ the meals of the day.
How often should I feed solid food to baby?
If you feel bub is ready for the next step it’s time to introduce another solids meal to the daily routine. So at the beginnings of this stage you may find yourself making 1-2 solid meals a day graduating up to 2-3 solid meals come 9 months of age with breast milk or formula rounding out the meal plan.
